Meet Jackie

Jackie B. Peterson, author of Better, Smarter, Richer: Seven Business Principles for Creative Entrepreneurs and Solopreneurs, has worked with small businesses, solopreneurs and freelance entrepreneurs for over 30 years. Jackie herself is an entrepreneur, business adviser and CPA. She was named one of the 100 most powerful women in the Northwest and recently won the Portland Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious President’s Award in recognition of her years of working on behalf of the small business community. Jackie currently works as a strategic adviser/instructor for the Small Business Development Center of Portland Community College and maintains an independent consulting practice. Better, Smarter, Richer is currently used as curriculum in many of the center’s classes.

Jackie’s Work as a Solopreneur Advisor

In 2001, Jackie joined the Small Business Development Center, an arm of Portland Community College. At the SBDC, Jackie is in charge of an entrepreneurial development and technical assistance program which combines classroom teaching with one-on-one individual counseling to traditional businesses and solopreneurs working to take their enterprises to the next level. In that role Jackie has become a local legend among entrepreneurs, counseling hundreds of small businesses, many of them creative enterprises, to growth, increased profitability and success. Jackie is known for her innovative approach to help advisers help their solopreneur clients. They often tell Jackie how much they appreciate the specific strategies of Better, Smarter, Richer when a creative sits in front of them and says, “I want to make a living doing what I love!”
