As you all know, the Waterbug Model™ is a cornerstone of the Better, Smarter, Richer system. (You DO all know that…right? If you need a little refresher on what it’s all about, click here.)
Outsourcing the help we need allows us solopreneurs and freelancers to scale our businesses and spend our time doing what we love to do (working IN the business, not ON the business). But there are important considerations when it comes to effectively implementing the Waterbug Model™. It may sound dry, but you MUST take a little time to get familiar with employment law. You need to know the differences between employees and contractors, and you need to make sure you’re treating your contractors like contractors…not employees. In short, you need to do your research.
That’s why I’m so excited about this week’s podcast. Chrys Martin is a partner at Davis Wright Tremaine LLP, and she’s passionate about employment law. She and I sat down and discussed what YOU need to know if you’re an entrepreneur who wants to scale your business…without (necessarily) hiring employees. Listen to our conversation about how to stay out of trouble as a small business owner with employment law for freelancers, and get Chrys’ top tips about how to keep your start-up going strong!
