Judy Lawrence can trace her money management career all the way back to high school. This Wisconsin cheesemaker’s daughter began saving money by dividing her earnings into five jars on her dresser, each clearly labeled: “College,” “Clothes,” “Savings,” Spending,” and “Car.”
If only all teens were so far-sighted…or all adults for that matter!
Today, Judy is a Financial Counselor and Money Coach in Albuquerque, NM, founder of www.MoneyTracker.com, and the author of the best-selling book The Budget Kit: Common Cents Money Management Workbook 6th Ed, in print for over three decades with over 425,000 copies sold. She has appeared on CNBC, Style Network, many national news networks, radio shows, online interviews and more.
But it wasn’t a straight shot from those five jars on her dresser to national television. Judy has a Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh, and has worked as a realtor, marketing director, and a boarding school counselor on the Navajo Reservation (among other things). All of these careers gave her insight into the serious need for a budget resource book.
But there was a problem—she couldn’t find one.
So she decided to blaze the trail, writing and self-publishing “Common Cent$: The Complete Money Management Workbook” in 1980…and pioneering concepts that finally started appearing in personal finance books in the mid-90s.
Judy’s journey has taken her from the Midwest to the Southwest, from the Silicon Valley to Kenya, Egypt, Greece, Great Britain, Canada, and Maui. She was a guest on Solo Pro Radio last year, and she is a true inspiration…and she has some great budgeting tips besides! Don’t miss this fantastic chance to see what’s new with this trailblazer. Tune in to Solo Pro Radio on Wednesday, July 3rd at 10 AM PST/2 PM EST (or any time after that!)
