Hi! Nice to meet you.
I’m Jackie B. Peterson. I’ve worked with small businesses and solopreneurs–including creative and encore entrepreneurs–for over 30 years. I’m an entrepreneur myself, working as a business adviser and CPA. I was honored to be named one of the 100 most powerful women in the Northwest and recently won the Portland Chamber of Commerce’s prestigious President’s Award in recognition of my years of working on behalf of the small business community.
In addition to my independent consulting and small business coaching practice, I currently work as a strategic adviser/instructor for the Small Business Development Center of Portland Community College. My book, Better, Smarter, Richer is currently used as curriculum in many of the center’s classes.
Small Business Coaching: My Work as a Solopreneur Advisor
In 2001 I joined the Small Business Development Center at Portland Community College. At the SBDC, I’m in charge of an entrepreneurial development and technical assistance program — we combine classroom teaching with one-on-one individual counseling for traditional businesses and solopreneurs, all of whom are working to take their enterprises to the next level.
In this role, I’ve become something of a local legend among entrepreneurs — counseling hundreds of small businesses, many of them solo enterprises, to increased growth, profitability and success. Through the Better Smarter Richer program, I bring an innovative approach to help other business advisers help their solopreneur clients. They often tell me how much they appreciate the wisdom and strategies found in Better, Smarter, Richer, and being able to help their clients who want to be solopreneurs–those who say, “I want to make a living doing what I love!”
Many people have found that the creative and practical strategies found in Better, Smarter, Richer offer up the perfect mix of information at exactly the right time: the solopreneur model has risen in popularity because it is so practical for so many, and now there are business advisers at the ready to help them reach their highest personal and financial success. Advisers who are interested in using Better, Smarter, Richer as curriculum for their solo, encore, or creative entrepreneur and freelance entrepreneur clients can send an email to: jackieB (at) jackiebpeterson.com
Are You Ready?
I urge all solopreneurs, whether creatives, encores, or professionals, to take the plunge, to truly examine the state of their business and then work to discover what they can do to create the most rewarding and profitable business they can imagine.
