Years in business:  I have been in business for 2 years, but New York Life is celebrating its 175th Anniversary!

How you decided to do this business.  Were you doing anything different prior to what you are doing now? I got into this business because I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives.  Talking about money can be an uncomfortable topic.  I’ve always enjoyed being able to take the time and help people grasp a financial topic and decision in a way they can understand. Then they feel empowered.  My background has been in business operations, HR, and marketing.  Growing up with a mother that was entrepreneurial, I have always had that spirit, and knew I would end up building a business of my own someday.  I never thought it would be in financial services, but now that I am here I couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else.

What do you enjoy about it?  The Relationships.  My clients and I both feel as though I’m a part of their family.  I love that I am able to help and support the people. I work with them through the various stages of their life.  From changing jobs, getting married, having children, retiring, or planning for their legacy, I loving being able to help serve people.

Lessons learned/take away/advice: People don’t realize it takes more planning once you get to retirement then it did getting there.  Having an appropriate plan will help lower the chances you don’t run out of money before you run out of life.  There are unique challenges that come with getting older that society doesn’t always prepare us for, having a good strategy can sometimes make or break your success in navigating those challenges.  If you don’t have a plan, or not sure yours is sufficient let’s have a conversation and I can point you in the right direction.
